== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I know if my website meets accessibility standards? =
The plugin automatically implements WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines through its default preset. Upon activation, your site immediately gains essential accessibility features like keyboard navigation, screen reader optimization, and focus indicators. For comprehensive compliance, we recommend using the plugin alongside accessibility testing tools and potentially consulting with accessibility experts for complex sites.

= Can I customize the appearance of the accessibility toolbar to match my brand? =
Absolutely! The plugin includes a powerful drag-and-drop mini editor that allows you to customize colors, fonts, positioning, button styles, icons, and layout. You can create brand-aligned accessibility toolbars that seamlessly integrate with your website design while maintaining full functionality.

= Does the accessibility toolbar work on mobile devices and tablets? =
Yes! The plugin is fully responsive and optimized for all devices including smartphones, tablets, and desktops. The accessibility controls automatically adapt to different screen sizes, ensuring users can access all features regardless of their device. Touch-friendly interfaces make mobile accessibility seamless.

= Can I use multiple accessibility presets on different pages of my website? =
Definitely! You can create unlimited accessibility presets and assign them conditionally to different areas of your site. For example, use one preset for your homepage (Entire Site), a different preset for blog posts (Singular), and another for category pages (Archives). This allows targeted accessibility experiences for different content types.

= Will this plugin conflict with my existing theme or page builder? =
No conflicts guaranteed! One Accessibility Website Accessibility is built with modern React technology and designed to work seamlessly with all WordPress themes, page builders (Elementor, Gutenberg, Beaver Builder, Divi, etc.), and custom development setups. The plugin operates independently without interfering with your existing design or functionality.

= What accessibility conditions and user profiles are supported? =
The plugin supports comprehensive accessibility profiles including Motor Impairment, Blindness & Low Vision, Color Blindness, Dyslexia, Cognitive Disabilities, Seizure & Epilepsy Safety, and ADHD accommodations. Each profile automatically configures appropriate tools like high contrast modes, font adjustments, animation controls, and navigation enhancements.

= Does the plugin support multilingual websites and translation? =
The free plugin's toolbar can be translated and localized, and it works perfectly with popular translation plugins like WPML, Polylang, and TranslatePress. Integrated Google Translate functionality (100+ languages) is available in One Accessibility Pro.

= How does the dictionary tooltip feature work? =
When a visitor switches the Dictionary tool on in the toolbar and double-clicks a single word, the plugin fetches that word's definition from the Free Dictionary API (see "External services" below) and shows it in a small popup. The popup can also read or spell the word aloud using the browser's built-in speech synthesis (no audio is downloaded). This helps users with cognitive disabilities, language learners, or those with dyslexia. Nothing is requested until the visitor double-clicks a word, and site owners can leave the Dictionary tool out of their preset entirely.

= Will this plugin slow down my website? =
Not at all! One Accessibility Website Accessibility is engineered for performance with optimized code, efficient loading, and minimal resource usage. The plugin loads only necessary components on-demand and uses modern caching techniques. Most users experience no noticeable impact on site speed while gaining comprehensive accessibility features.

= Can I track how users interact with the accessibility features? =
Yes, optionally. The "Usage statistics" setting (on by default, can be switched off under Settings) counts, per day, which toolbar tools visitors used. The counts are stored only in your own WordPress database (option `websac_usage_statistics`) and shown on the plugin dashboard; nothing is sent to us or to any third party. To tell one browser from another the toolbar sets a random first-party cookie `websac_browser_key` (1 year) — it contains no personal data and is removed again when the setting is off.

= ⚡ Where do I report security bugs found in this plugin? =

Please report security bugs found in the source code of the One Accessibility plugin through the [Patchstack Vulnerability Disclosure Program](https://patchstack.com/database/vdp/e9ff4b57-776a-4327-88d4-030a5a33d186). The Patchstack team will assist you with verification, CVE assignment, and notify the developers of this plugin.

== External services ==

This plugin connects to exactly one third-party service, and only when a visitor explicitly uses the feature described below. The plugin never contacts the plugin author's servers and sends no usage data, telemetry, or site information anywhere. Everything else the plugin does (settings, presets, usage statistics, saved preferences) talks only to your own WordPress REST API.

= Free Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev) =

* **What it is / what it is used for:** The "Dictionary" tool of the accessibility toolbar lets a visitor double-click a single word on the page and see its definition in a small popup. Definitions are fetched from the Free Dictionary API, an open-source (GPL-3.0) dictionary service run by an independent developer.
* **What data is sent and when:** A request is made only after (1) the visitor switches the Dictionary tool on in the toolbar and (2) double-clicks a single word. The word must consist of Latin letters (apostrophes/hyphens allowed, max. 64 characters); anything else is ignored client-side. The word is URL-encoded and sent in the request URL to `https://api.dictionaryapi.dev/api/v2/entries/en/{word}`. As with any HTTP request, the visitor's IP address and browser user-agent are transmitted to that server. No cookies, no personal data, no page URL and no information about your WordPress site are sent. When the tool is switched off no request is made.
* **Service website:** https://dictionaryapi.dev/
* **Source code and license (GPL-3.0):** https://github.com/meetDeveloper/freeDictionaryAPI (license: https://github.com/meetDeveloper/freeDictionaryAPI/blob/master/LICENSE)
* **Terms of use / privacy policy:** The Free Dictionary API is a free, community-run project. At the time of writing it does not publish a Terms of Service or a Privacy Policy document; the service website and the source repository linked above are the only public statements about the service. Because of this, site owners who need a documented data-processing agreement should not enable the Dictionary tool: it is a single toggle in the toolbar editor ("Features" → "Dictionary") and, once removed from a preset, no code path in this plugin can contact the service.

Features such as Google Translate integration and the AI-based accessibility checker are provided by the separate One Accessibility Pro plugin, which documents its own external services.

== Source code ==

The JavaScript and CSS shipped in `build/` are compiled with `@wordpress/scripts`. The human-readable sources are included in the plugin package under `src/` and are also published at https://github.com/bdthemes/website-accessibility (run `npm install && npm run build` to reproduce `build/`).
